'Twas the day before inspection...
Jim continued to work on completing all the action items on the list that he and the building inspector agreed on - and he crossed everything off the list today! So barring the inspector adding something or changing his mind, we are very optimistic and we are good to go - which is beyond exciting!
Jim did his best to figure out what parts and pieces he might need to hook up the kitchen sink plumbing and then I headed to Lowe's and Home Depot to pick everything up.
He first got the cabinets ready to install the newly-painted countertop. He pre-drilled holes in the cabinet supports so that he could attach the countertop from underneath.
Then he brought the countertop back up the stairs...
And into the kitchen...
Doing all the fastening...
Bringing the sink...
Once he had the new parts, he took the sink back down and started working on it. He put the Pex connectors on the copper plumbing for the faucet and had to install the new sink drain.
Back upstairs, this is the before picture...
And the after picture! Jim was able to get everything to fit perfectly and mate to the existing plumbing, which was what he was worried about.
We have water in the kitchen!
Unfortunately, the faucet that came with the sink leaks but it's a Delta so Jim can get some replacement parts. We have a nice new faucet but it may not mate up with the holes on this sink and we want to keep that for when we get our permanent sink.
But check out how good it looks! This satisfies all the inspection requirements - 8' of counter along with a working sink. Plus all those cabinets will make moving in and working in this kitchen much easier!
Then Jim put the door handle on the door so this item is now officially checked off too!
Jim also worked on the shower - I picked up caulk today and he had to caulk the stationary piece of glass into the door. It's all taped in place so we'll leave it dry for a couple of days.
The other thing Jim worked on before he came home was the door sill into the bathroom. He got it all ready to attach to the floor but when he tightened the screws down, it brought the sill just a tad lower than the tile floor - which Jim didn't like. So he'll have to remake that.
High 81/Low 55 - beautiful! |
