7.21.2018

We continue to take boxes out every day, emptying out our so-called "box" room in the apartment.  This morning, as Jim was taking some boxes to the car, he ran into our landlord who is in the process of remodeling the old dentist office into more apartments.  Jim asked him about our washer and dryer and if he would be interested in keeping it in the apartment.  He came upstairs and looked at it and they negotiated a price - we are so thrilled.  We now don't have to worry about moving it, listing it on Craigslist and then having to try to sell it.

I had some errands to do this morning and stopped at Sears on a whim.  We have been pricing washers and dryers for awhile, checking Home Depot, Lowe's and other sites.  In Sears, I ran across an LG model that was on closeout - for way less than half the original price.  I quickly called Jim and we decided to go ahead and buy them.  They will be delivered in a few weeks.  The stars definitely all aligned to make this happen - I'm so excited!

Jim worked today on installing the baseboard heater in the laundry room - more coincidences since I was out buying a washer and dryer for that room!

Jim first mounted the back of the heater to the wall and then soldered the angles to each end so that he could figure out exactly where the hole needed to be cut for the down tube.

He has found that making bigger holes work better to get the soldered pieces in place.  He first used his special porcelain bit  to drill 3 holes in the area he had marked.

Then he had to chip the rest of the porcelain out by hand with a small chisel...

Then he was finally able to use his hole saw to cut the rest of the hole through the subfloor...

All done!  Well...except now it was time to cut the hole on the other side!

The heater work is all finished in the laundry room!

Now it's time to do the work down below.  Here Jim is working precariously stapling up his heat shield and copper wire to hold up the Pex connector.

Soldering the connection on...

High 81/Low 60 - beautiful!
