Each day, Jim is trying to get absolutely as much done as possible before inspection and he's accomplishing so much!

First thing this morning, he finished the drywall next to the door frame in the metal shop.

We have a door!  He still needs to do a little tweaking and put a door handle on but it's all in and looks awesome.

Standing in the metal shop and looking towards the stairwell looks totally different now and the stairwell feels much more like a stairwell now that it is all enclosed.

The door sill is looking really good - the color looks great.  Jim will get some polyurethane on it and we'll be good to go!

Jim spent the rest of the day working on the temporary kitchen cabinet.  He made the front and back pieces including the groove on the "backsplash" piece...

Assembling the front and back pieces...

Using his clamps to hold everything together once he got the pieces glued.

Then he started making all the back pieces - he figured out where the tops of all the cabinets will go and put support pieces there as well as corner supports to mate up with the corner supports of the cabinets.

He figured out the exact placement for the sink and started cutting it out...

Finishing up...

Putting a bevel on the front edge to make sure there are no splinters!

A little sanding...

The next challenge was to figure out how to get the sink to fit in the hole - our sink is bigger than the hole in the cabinet.  Jim figured out that he could raise the sink up a bit which would allow the sink to fit in the hole.  So he made some "island" pieces around the hole.

He glued and stapled them in place...

Making the front and back pieces...

Trying it on for size!

Yay - it works!

Next is to try it in the cabinet so Jim carried it upstairs...

And put it in place...

Next he brought up the sink - perfect fit!

Now that he knows everything works, time to make it a bit prettier.  First sanding...

Then a coat of paint!  Can't wait to see it all in place!

High 75/Low 50 - another perfect day!
