Jim worked first today on organizing more of our storage area in the metal shop.  It's frightening how much we have but Jim is doing a good job getting it all stacked up.

The rest of the day was working on the baseboard heater in the bathroom.  Jim really didn't want to bring the Pex connection up through the floor - he preferred to bring the down tube into the wood shop and make the connection there.  However, it was impossible to make both down tubes fit in the holes and still somehow connect it to the heater framework.

It was a real Kobayashi Maru challenge for Jim.  For those of you who haven't obsessively watched Star Trek like we did, that's a no-win test.  However, Kirk was able to beat it by redefining the problem.  So that's what Jim did!

He first took apart some of the heater frame that was attached to the wall.  Then he soldered the elbows on to the down tubes.

Soldering the down tube assembly to the heater...

The finished product (kind of hard to see with all the stuff around it but you can see the two down tube assemblies at the far end).

Carrying it upstairs...

Trying to get the down tubes down the holes...

Then he had to basically put the framework back together around the actual heater...

Looking down the heater assembly...

Trying to get everything all reassembled...

Jim beat the Kobayashi Maru!  He has a few tweaks to do but we had to leave early to get ready for church.  However, it's all done and it worked!
High 80/Low 68 - we had rain overnight but a nice day
