10.9.2018

After too many drizzly days, today was a picture perfect day - bright sunshine and warmer temperatures.  As you look at today's progress, note the leaves starting to change.

Because it was warmer, it was the perfect opportunity for Jim to work on windows.  He stained one of the windows in the shop and then put polyurethane on the top sashes in the living room.

To keep progress moving along, Jim cut 8 more rafters today.  His first task on the pole barn was to finish nailing the rafters that were already in place.

Then he started putting more rafters up...

A view from the top of the deck as Jim is putting more rafters in place...

Starting to build another truss on top of the deck...

The truss is up in place and temporarily braced.  Next Jim is taking measurements for the remainder of the ridge board.

It's really taking shape now!

Once he got the ridge board cut and the rafter placements marked, he pulled it up onto the deck.

Setting the ridge board into place and temporarily securing the two ends together.

Nailing the rafters...

Jim put up a temporary brace along the front rafters just to keep things secure.

End-of-the-day picture!

Of course, that wasn't really the end of the day.  Jim had to put all his tools away and then work on getting the windows cleaned up and back in place.
High 76/Low 63 - beautiful!
