Another hectic day for Jim as he prepares for our propane gas tank delivery and set up tomorrow.  He spent the morning fine-tuning the area around the hole.  He moved the entire giant pile of rocks so that he would have better access to the dirt pile for back filling.  Then he consolidated the dirt pile more to keep things out of the way of the tank spot.

Then he had to work on extending the trench to the house gas line connection.

All of this had to be done by hand so Jim was fairly beat after rock duty and trench digging!

It was much cheaper for Jim to buy the coated copper gas line himself as opposed to paying the gas company to bring it.  So over lunch, he took off for the plumbing supply company to pick that up.

As always when other people are involved, there's a lot of uncertainty about how things will go tomorrow.  Jim did all of this with perfect timing - when he talked to the gas company president yesterday, he told Jim that he had Jim's tank and one more 1,000 gallon one.  All of these companies basically get their tanks from the same place and they have no more in stock and it will be at least a month before they get them in.  Plus, the tank from this place was the cheapest.  But you just never know how things will go once they are out of our control!  They are scheduled to come about 9:00 in the morning so it will be a busy day!

Jim also had another tree service come today to give him an estimate on cutting down our big beech tree.  It was only $50 less than the first estimate and Jim probably liked the first company best.  We're still going to get a couple more.  Jim just wants to make sure the tree is down before Thanksgiving so we have time and enough on our plates right now!

Jim was finally able to get back up on the roof this afternoon to put more shingles up.  He has gotten to the end of the drip edge so he'll have to put more on before building up.  The tree guy who stopped today asked Jim if it was slate - it looks so good!
