10.8.2018

Another cool, drizzly day.  Jim continues to have lots of project management issues to deal with - just today it was following up on siding/roofing quotes, getting more information from other sources to help decide about the propane tank, and dealing with the snowblower shipping issues.  Whew.

He worked in the workshop this morning, making more clips for the headers.  Here he's putting the last of them in place...

Not the best working conditions - you can see how wet the decking material is so Jim got wet every time he kneeled and his gloves were all wet.  But he persevered!

He made more rafters too and then this afternoon he started putting the first one together.  Like always, the first one is the hardest!

In place and temporary brace to hold it there!

Looks great from down below too!

Time for another one...

Bracing it...

Taking shape...

Next step was the ridge board.  Jim had already marked the rafter locations on the board and put up some temporary blocking to hold the board in place until he could get it fastened.  Then he put one end in place...

And got up on the ladder and lifted it into place...

Getting everything in the exact spot...

Then some screws to hold it in place...

Wow - what a great start to our roof!  Now that this is done, everything will build off it.
