10.19.2018 - Roof sheathing is done on the barn!

It was a gorgeous day so Jim was anxious to get out to work on the pole barn.  First steps were to work on extending the scaffolding across the entire front.  Unfortunately, we were short a couple of scaffolding feet so Jim had to tear down the first section on the side to get enough.

Once the scaffolding was all built, Jim put his steel blocking pieces to hold the sheathing while he gets it up in place.

We got the first 3 pieces marked and loaded onto the Bobcat.  Then Jim started dragging it over in place.

While this is still not an easy job, it's much better than having to drag it through the building and out the back side. Putting the first piece in place...

Getting it fastened down...

Working across the front...

The bottom row is all in place!

Putting up the toe boards...

Then I marked the next pieces and Jim brought them over to the building...

First piece on the second row...

Sliding pieces up in place...

Making great progress!

Cutting the next piece...

Jim had to sit on the peak of the roof and cut off the last little piece of tie, using his hand saw.

 Pushing up the next piece...

Cutting the last piece!

I was up on the deck for a lot of this so that I could put the H-clips on the sheathing and hand Jim tools.  Now you see the gorgeous view...

And now you don't as Jim puts the last piece into place...

It feels very different inside...this is going to be great storage space!

All the sheathing is done - looks great!

After Jim got all the sheathing tools put away, he decided to pull out the drip edge.  He had already made some that we were going to use on the house before we switched to copper, so he was able to get the front all done.

High 61/Low 44 - beautiful
