Jim did work inside work this morning - including having to take apart the outside apartment door to grease it. These are wonderful fireproof, commercial doors but because they are, they have features that make it impossible to break in - like the hinge location. So it was a project to get them greased but it's much quieter now!
Once he got outside, he got busy putting up the last rafter on the outside.
Then he built the wall member and supports. Here he's using the chain saw to cut off the extras!
Besides the rafter ties (which Jim doesn't want to put up yet), the pole barn framing is all done!
One of the big before-winter jobs that has been hanging over Jim's head is the dormer window and finishing the stairwell roof. The people at the roofing company are still checking into some options for the window but this is a major project that certainly doesn't fit in right now. So...Jim came up with Plan B which is to get a good covering on the roof and we'll decide options next year. Plan B involves putting up the asphalt roofing material to protect the stairwell roof area. Rolling up the first piece...
Back up on the stairwell roof, putting the first piece down...
Next piece...
A good start to this project and great progress on the pole barn!
