10.20.2018 - First roof shingles on barn!

Another beautiful day - a bit chillier, especially with the wind, but no complaints!

Since Jim had the drip edge on, he was able to start putting on the titanium underlayment.

Marking lines for shingle placement...

First roof shingle on the pole barn!  We had some shingles left over from the house which was definitely helpful.

Working on the first starter strip of shingles...

Putting on the first row...

Jim did the starter strip and then 2 rows of shingles.  Everything has to be done in a certain order - the underlayment needs to go on first, then the side drip edge, then the shingles.  But putting these first rows down holds everything in place and gives a good start.

Toe boards are next...

A view from the front...

Unrolling the next section of underlayment...

More toe boards and then the next layer...

Jim had side drip edge already made too so he has able to do the first section on both sides of the front...

Front is done for now...

Next, we moved around to the back side and started the process all over again.  First drip edge...

Then underlayment...

Next is the first shingle...

Finishing up the starter strip...

And then doing a couple rows of shingles...

Next was the rest of the underlayment.  When he got to the top, he folded over the piece to go over the ridge and overlap the front section...

The back view...

We're thrilled to have this done - now the roof is waterproof!
