10.18.2018

We had our first frost last night - it was 27 degrees when I woke up so definitely frost on the pumpkin!

Since it was so chilly, Jim and I used the morning to run errands.  He headed out to the roofing company to pick up the titanium underlayment for the roof and to check on our siding and roofing order.  I went the other way into Saratoga to pick up Jim's order from Lowe's and go to the grocery stores.

Once back home, Jim got organized and started back up on the roof.  He got the last piece of sheathing done on the bottom row.  I went up and gathered some toe boards and he started putting them up.

Putting the first piece of sheathing on the second row into place...

 Fastening it in place...

Now that the sheathing is started, Jim was able to take down the braces inside as well as the one on the front of the rafters.

Time to get more sheathing ready to take up - I'm marking the pieces first.

Jim brought them over to the scaffolding and then we were able to get them up onto the deck.

Next pieces all ready to go...

Bringing the next piece to the outside...

Fastening...

Getting a bit harder to manipulate the pieces outside so Jim brought a full piece out and set it up on the toe boards while he was still able to access it from inside.

Bringing out the last full piece...

There was a tiny piece of blocking on both sides that was too small and high to do with the chainsaw so Jim had to crawl up on the sheathing and cut it off with a hand saw.  Made him appreciate even more all of the power tools we have now!  As an aside, when Jim built his first house, he didn't have a nail gun - every nail was pounded in just with a hammer!

Cutting the last 4' section...

The sheathing on the back is all done!

The view from above!

The sun was out all day and it was beautiful but definitely chilly and breezy.
