8.7.2018 - Hot water!

Jim started his day off by heading to the DMV to get the license plate for the box truck.  He had taken care of all the insurance paperwork yesterday.  He also stopped at Curtis Lumber to see what kind of cabinet grade plywood they had.  Jim still has to work on getting the truck inspected before it's road ready, but then he'll be able to use it for getting plywood that he can't get in the 4Runner as well as for moving.

That took up most of his morning, but when he got back, he got the first coat of polyurethane on the apartment door sill.

Then he put the polyurethane on the bottom living room window sashes...

While the windows were out, Jim got the window frame all stained.  By the end of the day, he was able to put the windows back together.  Looks so pretty!

Next, Jim got the cord for the range all hardwired into the back...

All buttoned up and plugged in!

Check out the control panel - I am beyond excited to be able to use this soon!

Jim tested it out to make sure it worked!

Those are all amazing accomplishments, but the biggest one of the day was the fact that we now have hot water!  As you know, although Jim was able to make the furnace fire up for heat once the gas was hooked up, he couldn't get the hot water heater to fire up.  He hasn't had time to devote to it, but it's definitely been on his mind as a must-do item before we can move in.  He's looked through the manual but the manual didn't seem to match the settings on the furnace.  So after spending some quality time on it today, he called the tech department for the furnace.  Thankfully, he got a really nice guy who spent more than 1-1/2 hours on the phone with Jim trying to figure it out!  It ended up being a wrong model number was programmed into the furnace so the furnace thought that the water was already heated to 220 degrees so it definitely wasn't going to fire up!  Once Jim changed that setting, everything fired right up!  This is a gauge that is on the copper pipe that shows the temperature - looking closely you can see that the 120 degree mark looks a bit different - that's the temperature of the water!  So very exciting - I can't wait to test it out!
