Jim headed out to the carriage house this morning and had to start by doing truck work.  The light over the license plate wasn't working so he had to take that apart and get it working.  Lights are a huge safety concern and one of the big reasons they'll fail you on the inspection.  Once he made sure they were all working, he drove the truck to Tubbs, our favorite local repair shop for inspection.  And it passed!  Huge news!  Once you get your license plates, you only have 10 days to get it inspected.  So now we don't have to worry about it and can keep the truck on the road as long as we need it.

Since he was close to the apartment with the truck, he brought his two-wheeler back and loaded up a few things into the back.

These were the kids' nursery dressers but they are getting new life in Jim's workshop!  This corner of the shop is looking really nice.

Speaking of breathing new life into old furniture, Jim wanted to put a fresh coat of paint on the old bookshelves that we will use in the laundry room and bathroom, at least temporarily.  He first sanded both shelves, put plastic down over the floor, and got his paint gun working.  He flipped the shelves over and started by spraying the tops of the shelves first so that he could always be pointing the paint
gun towards the floor.

Looking all pretty!

We have been having problems in the control room with condensation buildup, especially this past week when it has been unusually humid here.  There are a few factors that cause the issue in this room.  First, the condensation occurs around the edges where the footers meet the slab.  Inside the footers, there is foam so that insulates the floor but the edges of the footer stay cold.  Plus, we keep this room closed which doesn't let the air circulate as well.  Then, the pipes coming into the room from the well have cold water in them so they are dripping onto the floor.  Finally, the paint that we put on the floor acts as a sealant and is not porous like the rest of the concrete floor.

There is a lot of high-dollar equipment in this room so we want to keep the humidity levels as stable as possible.  So this morning, I ran a few errands including buying a dehumidifier for the room.  Jim helped move some things out of the storage part of this room and I cleaned the floors well before he set the dehumidifier in place.  It already feels drier in there!

The washer and dryer are being delivered tomorrow (yay!).  However, when I bought the appliances and set up delivery, I was told it would be around 11:00.  I got a call this evening saying that they will be delivered between 6:00-8:00 pm tomorrow.  Frustrating.  I called and when I was finally able to reach a human, they said there was nothing they could do because our address was far out from the warehouse.

However, Jim still had to do some prep in the laundry room.  We got all the things out that we had been storing in there.  Then Jim cleaned off our permanent marker notations he had made when installing the tile.

At the end of the day, Jim got the window frame in the bathroom all stained - looks so good!

The apartment is finally starting to feel somewhat empty - makes us feel like progress is being made and it won't be long!
High 82/Low 61 - beautiful!
