Jim practically gets a full day's work in every morning before heading to the property loading up his truck with packed boxes. We have a very steep, rickety staircase to go up and down each trip so it's a workout!
Jim's parts finally came so he was able to finish the last Pex connection and do the blocking. That means this zone is all complete now too! So he pumped the lines up with air...and immediately heard the hissing and watched the pressure fall to 0. Sigh. However, he quickly realized that he had attached the Pex connection to the laundry room down tube but hadn't crimped it - he just forgot to go back and do it. Once he got that done, he pumped it up again...and it fell to 0. Bigger sigh. Now he couldn't hear anything in the wood shop. So he pumped it up again and went upstairs - he realized that the more high-tech relief valve he put in the laundry room works automatically to release the pressure. The one he put in the bathroom is manual - you have to open up a valve to release the pressure. So that was very good news - there are probably no leaks in the system but he just can't test it the way it is. He is going to replace that valve - either temporarily or permanently - so he can test the zone with air.
Jim wanted to try staining our first window. He took out the window, taped it up, and put a coat of stain on it.
Ta da! The window is all stained! He will have to do the frame but he wanted to make sure I liked it before proceeding on - and I really do! These windows are going to look great in the apartment.
Jim had to run some errands over lunch and into the early afternoon. While he hates to waste time, it's a necessary evil sometimes. He stopped at the Drywall Center to pick through their "boneyard" - half price pieces. He wanted pieces to use for building our bookshelves at the bottom of the stairwell. He had to order some more steel pieces while he was there. He stopped at the Bobcat store, which is on the same street as Drywall Center, and picked up a couple filters he needs - he needs to do some maintenance on the Bobcat too. We marvel that all these places are so close to us!
He also had to stop at the lumberyard - so he got a good supply to keep him going for awhile!
Later in the afternoon, I bring a carload of boxes and Jim helps me unload them.
Then he got ready to do some caulking on the bathroom and laundry room door sills...
As well as inside the shower...
