Although Jim and I have been moving for what feels like forever, today was our first big moving day. It was so nice that Kyle was able to come up and help Jim move some of our furniture that we wanted to take extra care with. The first thing to be taken apart and moved was the big screen tv!
Carrying a bookshelf down...
This is one of our favorite pieces of furniture - Jim made this gorgeous coffee table with a top out of curly maple. It is so incredibly heavy though, even with the drawers out.
First load all ready to go...
TV is in the living room!
Another heavy piece of furniture - my dining room hutch.
This was a tight fit going down the stairs; however, it was a really tight fit going up the stairs at the carriage house! Jim said this was the hardest piece to move so far.
Yikes...I've been nervous all day but Jim and Kyle work great together!
Taking apart my dining room table! There is no room for this in the carriage house apartment, so it will be stored.
Carrying it out of the kitchen...
And loading it up in the truck...
Second load ready to go...
Wow - the hutch looks amazing in the carriage house!
Back at the apartment to get another load. They took the mirror off our bedroom dresser and carried it out.
More scary stair work...
Time to take apart the beds!
Taking apart our bedframe...
Then the guest room bed is next...
The box spring and mattress on the floor - Jim and I spent the first decade of our married life just like this!
Taking one of the living room chairs out...
Jim's desk is the next thing to come apart...
Carrying the desk top out...
Third load all ready to go! But by this time, it was getting late and the hard-working crew getting tired. So they decided to drive the full truck over to the property and leave it parked. They brought the 4Runner home. In the morning, they'll take both vehicles, unload and then Kyle will have to leave from there.
The apartment is so crazy looking with so much emptied out! With the big TV gone, Jim set up a small one in the living room.
A toast to a fabulous day - we are so happy that Kyle was here to help and they got so much done.
High 73/Low 61 - perfect temps for moving! |
