7.17.2017

Jim went to use his wet/dry vac today and it wasn't working well.  For whatever reason, the mice at the barn where we had so much in storage loved these vacuums and made such a mess.  Jim had cleaned things out once but when it wasn't working, he dug a little deeper.  He found that the little varmints had gotten in the whole motor assembly - eaten the insulation off wires, just made a huge mess, as you can see below.  He had to tape wires, solder parts and really clean it out.  He spent quite a bit of time but it was worth it - it's all back together and working well!

Jim continued progress on the workshop insulation this morning...

Then it was back outside to do more siding details.  Jim put the side trim boards on the window and worked on more siding underneath.

Almost all of the pieces now require cutting, some with more complicated cuts requiring use of the hand shear.

Jim had to spend time moving up the side scaffolding so that he could have better access - this will allow him to work on the dormer side too.  He also got the top trim for the window made and attached.

About 4:00, a thunderstorm rolled through the area so we had to pack up all the tools and siding pieces.  This is the end-of-the-day picture...almost to the point where we can't do any more until we put the other window in!

Jim worked up in the apartment doing some rigid foam insulation.  He got two more box baffles made and installed.  You can see how tough the one cavity was because of all the blocking that was in that cavity.
