7.6.2017

This morning, I headed out to Ballston Spa where the water testing laboratory is located.  We are required to get a water sample tested for coliform bacteria.  This required me driving out there to pick up the testing kit, driving back, getting the sample, and driving it back to the lab.  Since it was about 30 minutes each way, I spent quite a bit of my morning driving!

Meanwhile, Jim was busy with prep work.  He got the corner trim all assembled and one of the side window trim made...

He had to first put the Pella tape on the outside of the window to make sure everything was sealed well.  Then he predrilled and started a couple screws in the trim board...

Once that was in place, we cut the Pella tape to go on top of the window and Jim starting putting it on.

Yikes - in order to reach the side, Jim had to straddle the scaffolding - 30 feet in the air!

Fastening the trim board (nice arms!)...

The living room window is looking great!

Jim had to bring up another big piece of trim board from the metal shop and cut it to size for the top of the window.

The trim board is all cut and the edges primed and Jim did some predrilling...

The next task of the day was the corner trim.  Because of it's position, I can't really help Jim so he got all the screws partially in place first.

Then he was able to get it up into place and hold it there long enough to get a couple screws to bite.

Making sure everything fits well on both sides, since this is a complicated angle....

Jim has to crouch on the plank and drill with his left hand - nothing is easy!

At the end of the day, Jim worked on a bit of insulation.  This first piece next to the wall was complicated and required lots of little pieces to fill in gaps before the batts could be fit.

Jim came and picked me up a little after 5:00 and we headed into Lowe's to pick up another internet order - more tile and some lights.  We decided to put the same tile in the laundry room and the lights will be for underneath the new overhang on the stairwell.  Afterwards, we decided to celebrate all of our recent accomplishments with nachos and beer!  (Check out the class - Drink Upstate!)
