7.11.2017 - 3 Year Anniversary!

We're celebrating our 3rd anniversary of getting our building permit today!  However, when I went back in the blog archives, I realized that we actually got the building permit on July 10, 2014.  No matter - it's mindboggling to me how much work Jim has done in 3 years!

We got more good water news last night - our test results came back from the lab.  We officially have no coliform bacteria or e-coli in our water - whew!  We weren't particularly worried about these results but it's important to have that negative reading.

Speaking of water, we set up an appointment for a water treatment company to come tomorrow afternoon to test the quality of the water.  We just got the results from the mail-in company, so it will be interesting to see how they compare.  They'll want us to listen to their spiel about selling us their equipment, but hopefully it can be a short conversation!

I headed out this morning to go to Lowe's for more caulk - we were on our last tube.  I had a delay on the mountain road because a truck was on fire - had to wait for the fire trucks to come and put it out before they would let us pass.  Scary!

Jim had a very productive morning - he worked more on putting the bandsaw together.  He also got the valve all reassembled and fastened back up to the shower.  He pumped the air pressure up and - yay! - it's holding!

Then he worked on the final plumbing connection - the flush valve to the urinal.  He had to figure out the location first and then got the blocking made and attached.  The threaded pipe is too long - it's just there temporarily.  Jim has to order the flush valve assembly tonight to make sure that everything will mate up and is in the right location.

Then it was siding time.  Jim first had to install the flashing cap he made for the top of the trim board for the utility box.

Starting to put up siding...

I'm just hanging out on the scaffolding giving pieces and tools to Jim...

Jim had to put a tiny starter strip on the flashing, then actually made another piece of flashing that went to the top of the siding - just to make sure all the water is channeled correctly.  Then he had to cut siding pieces around it.

A close-up view of the finished product!

End-of-the day picture - amazing progress!
