The apartment is looking quite spacious with a lot of the bracing gone!
Once Jim got all of the blocking done on the end rafters, it was time for our first ceiling joist! Jim clamped a temporary brace to the rafters so that I could set one end on that brace while Jim got the other end in place and clamped. Then he fastened the joist to the rafters.
Next one up and in place...
...and the last roof joist on the main rafters. It really feels like a ceiling when you stand underneath.
Then Jim started on the blocking for the main rafters. This blocking really firms the rafters up, keeps them straight, and keeps the tails all perfectly aligned.
This back corner is all finished...
Time to move around to the front section...
All done - the very last one still needs to be attached but it started spitting rain and we had to cover up tools and head out to pick up steel.
Unloading our new steel...
We have been so blessed with the weather - while we were on our way home from our steel run, we ran into a heavy burst of rain. Thankfully, when we got back to the land, we must have just gotten a sprinkle - no drips or puddles inside!
