11.14.2015

The morning started out with snow flurries flying, temperatures in the 30s with a wind chill in the 20s.  Not the best building weather - especially with cold steel - but we have to be hearty at this point!

Jim worked this morning on plans for the next phase - which will be putting the wall up between the dormer rafter and the regular rafter as well as sheathing that part of the roof.  He cut and then put up a piece of strapping that he will use to connect everything.

He also put up some more of the blocking that he had made.

Then it was time for sheathing.  We cut most of the remaining pieces at once and marked them.

Then Jim put the pieces up on the roof while there was still enough open space to get them up.

Dragging the pieces up...

Setting the last piece on this course into place...

Then the last piece on the next course!

The last piece that we can do right now - we have to leave the very top sides open because they will connect to the other part of the roof.

Our goal of getting the rest of the pieces done on the dormer rafter was accomplished!

Time for a little clean-up work - besides all the leaves, doing the cutting on the deck makes for a lot of sawdust and there's no way to just sweep it off anymore.

Time to get ready for the next task - so Jim used the Bobcat to move our new scaffolding around to the back of the building.

Then we started setting it all up...

Building higher...

Since it was so chilly, we decided to go to church this evening - tomorrow is supposed to be a little warmer.  I left first - after I left, Jim put up two smaller sections of scaffolding on this tower.  We'll be in good shape to start work tomorrow.
