5.17.2015

Jim first worked this morning on a few more deck details.  If you look closely at this picture, in the middle of the top groove of the decking, he put little 1-1/2" pieces of conduit to hold the wire off of the decking.  It needs to be embedded in the concrete by itself, not as part of the deck.  We need to get a little more conduit to finish that job - he's about 1/3 of the way done.

After that, we went down below to play with the Pex pigtails - and there are quite a few of them!  We used a Sharpie to write what circuit it was and whether it was in (the beginning of the circuit where the hot water enters) or out (the end of the circuit where the water is returned to the manifold).

Then Jim organized them and wire tied them together to the beam.

Once they were all over by the manifold, more organizing -  we put all the "in's" together and all the "out's" together.

That's it for now - everything is pretty organized and close to the manifold.  We'll be playing more with these tomorrow.

It was pretty hot and sunny today, so we stayed inside and worked on scaffolding.  Hopefully,  our replacement pieces will come Tuesday but we still had some work we could do to get the other towers built up.  Here Jim is putting up a steel girder (one of the pieces we just had delivered from Albany Steel).

Then they have to be fastened to the plate at the top.  This is tough work - he has to drill through the 1/4" steel flange of the beam!

Putting the girder up on another tower...

We have 3 of the 6 towers built now, so that's good.

So we decided to head out and work on another infiltrator line.  So again, we got the paper down and shoveled a little dirt to keep it in place.

All covered up and ready for backfill!

We did the same procedure - Jim has to back drag the dirt, I pick out the rocks, and then hop down into the trench while he carefully places the dirt and I take out any missed rocks.  Just about done with this line!

Jim was doing some more grading after we took away all the rocks we picked out.  Two lines done - it's looking really good!
