5.21.2015

Jim spent the day doing scaffolding and shoring details - he has all of the shoring posts up, all of the secondary shoring posts in place - just has to do more fastening.  It's been really hard work - lots of hours spent trying to drill through steel 10 feet in the air with your arms stretched out.  I know he's glad that things are moving towards the finish line on this project!

And to that end, Jim had the building inspector out early in the afternoon.  He actually used the word "beautiful" to describe the deck and shoring work!  Jim said that was a first - inspectors normally don't say much at all unless they have an issue.  So the concrete inspection is in the books!

In the early evening, the concrete contractor came to discuss the project and set a date for pouring.  He too was happy with everything, although Jim spent some time discussing structural reasons for doing things the way he did.  I don't think anyone is used to Jim's attention to every detail!  So...drumroll...concrete pour is scheduled for this coming Thursday!   Unfortunately, especially considering we have had hardly any rain at all this spring, there are some showers in the forecast for next week so we'll just have to see how that plays out.

But it's SO exciting - this is such a huge step and we've been working towards it for so long!
