5.9.2020

The snow started falling late last night and we woke up to about 2" of snow this morning.  It sure was pretty - it didn't last long on the trees because it was very windy all day.

We continued to get snow flurries on and off during the day but they never accumulated.  With the sun out all day and the wind, the snow was pretty much gone by evening.  One last look - this should be the last snowfall of the season!

With the cold temperatures and wind, it was definitely an inside day.  Jim was working on the back support pieces for the cabinets - the millwork is pretty complicated...

This is how everything fits together...

Jim has the smaller cabinet back pieces cut and the support pieces fastened in place...

Now an updated look at how things will come together...

Then Jim started working on the face frame pieces, cutting them to size and then planing them to the right thickness...

It was bedroom door installation day!  First, Jim had to take off the old door and old hardware...

Taking the door out...

And bringing the beautiful door up the stairwell...

And down the hall...

Getting it set on the hinges - not so easy with this heavy door...

Putting all the screws in the hinge plates...

Attaching the door hardware...

Then it was time for the door stop, which required drilling through the bamboo floor...

Door stop in place...

Wow - the doors look beautiful!  So excited to have them both up!

High 38/Low 30 - 2" of snow!
