In the shop this morning, Jim trimmed the Formica off the last stationary shelf for these two cabinets...

Then did the millwork on the face frame pieces...

Last coat of polyurethane on these shelf pieces...

It was a beautiful day, so after lunch we headed outside.  One of the summer goals is to clean up this area at the end of the driveway.  This old post has been here forever - we used it for a long time to chain up the entrance when we weren't living here.  Time for it to go!

Jim wants to restore and clean up the rock wall in this area.  So he brought down the excavator to move some giant rocks around!

Jim had dug up this huge rock when we were digging up on top - he wants it to block off access to the mailbox in case a big truck swings wide.

These are really giant rocks!

Moving rocks by hand that have fallen from the wall...

Working on the other side of the driveway some...

Then scooping up some fill-in rocks from our pile...

Then we mounted operation save the oak tree - it's growing near a big oak but right on the rock wall.  So we were hoping to scoop it out and replant it.

Jim dug and dug and the tree wouldn't budge...

He even tried hand shoveling it - it looks like it grew from a stump; it wouldn't move.  So we eventually gave up and had to cut it down.

What a pretty front to the property!  The street department uses so much sand on the roads in the winter that it tends to build up along the edges.  They do come scoop some up but it still accumulates.  Jim was trying to scoop some up and straighten the area.

Doing a little trimming along the front...

Check out this tangle of vines - these are the ones that were growing up the telephone pole.

A great start - looking so pretty already!  Jim did go up to our upper rock pile and brought down two loads of rocks.  Those don't have all the dirt around them so it's a bit easier to see what you are getting.  Picture to come!
