5.15.2020

Of course this is a holiday I would have to celebrate!  So we started the day off with homemade chocolate chip scones!

Jim cut the Formica on the cabinet shelves today...

Cutting into the new piece of maple plywood...

The back piece is all cut and sized and Jim made and attached the support pieces as well...

Now that the Formica is on the shelf, Jim wanted to shave just a bit off the shelf so it would fit in the groove better so he used his drum sander for that job.  This is going to be beautiful!

Jim ordered a safety item for the carriage house today - a fire extinguisher.  We will put this one up in the house for now but he's going to order a smaller one for the house and use this one for the shop area.

The mailman also brought Jim new concrete boots!  We brought the old ones he had from Ohio but they were pretty destroyed.  These are nice ones that you wear without other shoes (a definite advantage from his old ones) plus they have steel toes just in case!

Jim started working on the garage door installation in the auto bay.  He got the opener attached to the spring mechanism and all mounted in place.  It fit perfectly with the framing he had around the door.

Because of the way it mounts, this opener has a special lock mechanism so Jim had to drill a hole through the track and then mount the box...

First steps done!  Jim has already decided that he is going to take off the first piece of drywall and put in another receptacle so the opener can plug into that without having to use an extension cord to reach the one already installed.
