I'm amazed at how much work Jim got done today - that's true every day but he really got some big blocks checked today!

Now that the vent work is done, Jim could finish this wall in the stairwell.  He finished stuffing the air vent cavity and then had to build some blocking to allow for breathing room for the exhaust vent.

Then he got that cavity all stuffed too.

Drywall is all up and fastened in place!  It's amazing how open this makes the stairwell landing feel!

Outside, he painted the trim board.  I picked up the elbow he had ordered at Lowe's so he was able to put that on the air vent.  Right now, it's just capped since it's not in use.  He did order another rodent screen for this vent - yay!

I also picked up the longer piece of black pipe gas line so Jim was able to get that all installed, blocked and clamped.

On that same wall, Jim was also able to finish doing the insulation work since the vent work is complete.

Then he got the last hand rail modification done...

His next huge project was working on the shower base in the bathroom.  He first installed the drain assembly using his plumber's putty.

This is the underneath of the base - you can see that Jim transferred the location of these stability rings to the floor...

However, once he fit the base down, he realized that he didn't leave quite enough room around the drain pipe when he cut the opening in the floor.  Which meant that he had to use his vibrating tool and very carefully chip away some of the porcelain floor tile!  That was very tedious work but the following pictures show that he got it done without breaking any of the flooring.  He also had to carefully cut the drain pipe itself to the right level.

Then he used spray foam in these areas to provide for more stability once the base was in place. You can also see that he put silicone caulk on all the edges.

He had to trim a little bit off the shower wall back trim so that it would fit perfectly on top of the base.  He later unpacked the side walls and tried them out to make sure everything fit - and it did.  So he'll continue working on that tomorrow.

Whew - a crazy amount of work in one day in lots of different key areas!

High 68/Low 51 - beautiful!
