6.1.2018

Wow - hard to believe it's June.  Unfortunately, that means that we will be having to renew our building permit soon.  So Jim started his day at the building department talking to the inspector and turning in our paperwork for our final electric inspection.  The inspector is going to come out in a couple of weeks to just go through some occupancy requirements and check things out.

Along that same vein, Jim also has been in touch with our landlord for the apartment - just to give him a status update.  The landlord ended up stopping by the property around noon - he hadn't seen anything since he helped us with the truss placement a couple years ago.  Jim said he was very impressed with all of the work - Jim said he must have used the word "incredible" a dozen times!  So that was a good morale boost!

Even with all the interruptions, Jim got lots done.  He's starting to get plan out the handrails for the bottom stairwell...

Then it was back to flooring...Jim got a big chunk of the hallway work done.  This was all tedious work because it involved putting in all the splines from the keel board over to the kitchen side.  Then he had to screw the final board against the wall into place with finish nails.  None of this work could be done with the nailer.

We struck a chalk line for the first row of flooring into the living room to make sure everything was square.  Here Jim is putting in the doorway piece.  He got the rest of this first row done - again, all hand work.
