Jim was happy to see that the gas line is still maintaining pressure.  So he made some phone calls today to the gas company.  We had gotten recommendations when we first came up here about a co-op for buying gas.  Jim got lots of info from them and will fill out an application this weekend.  There are options to investigate - buying or renting the tank, sizes, etc., so Jim will be doing some calculating to figure out our best options.  Eventually, we want an outdoor wood burning furnace and hope to not use much propane so all that needs to be taken into consideration.

Besides that, Jim worked on finishing up the risers on the stairs today - here he is attaching one in place.

  This run is all finished!

Jim spent lots of time continuing to work on the handrail modification.  We really like the way the connected handrail looks but we still wanted to be able to take it apart.  Of course, Jim figured out a way!  He ordered a coupler and welded it onto one side...

Then the rest of the handrail will connect to the coupler so if we want to disassemble, we will be able to!

This section is all done - just needs the final weld which has to be done in place.  Jim is very conscientious and doesn't like to weld like this late in the afternoon, just in case a spark would land somewhere and smolder.  So he'll finish this up in the morning.

There wasn't much time left, but Jim was able to get most of the closet area flooring done!

I had to go into Saratoga this morning to do some returns.  I was leaving the UPS Store and driving down the aisle to the exit when a woman in a giant Mercedes SUV backed right into me!  It was kind of bizarre - she was still in the car and thought she had it in park but obviously didn't and it just rolled back.  There were no reverse lights but I saw the car when I was right on it, stopped and laid on the horn but there was no avoiding the crash.  My car lost the battle but still held up pretty well considering the size of her vehicle!  We had to call the police and wait for them - the woman was very nice and took immediate responsibility.  We both have the same insurance company so they've already been in touch.  Unfortunately, at a time when poor Jim has not one second to spare, this incident will require his time and attention too.  But the good thing is that everyone is fine and Jim was so incredibly supportive as always!

High 76/Low 56 - beautiful!
