6.15.2018 - Working toilet in the apartment!

Jim continued to work in the bathroom this morning.  In fact, the toilet took another trip down to the workshop where Jim did a bit more tweaking.  He's completely satisfied now - no rocking at all!  So the next step was to put the wax ring on...

Then he put the tank on and leveled it.

Then he turned on the water in the control room and checked for leaks - all was good so we now have a working toilet in the apartment (well, besides needing the seat put on!).

Then he had to spend quite a long time figuring out how to get all the connections for the sink faucet - look at all the stuff underneath!  But he got everything fit and tied up perfectly.  Later in the afternoon, he turned on the water to the valves - again, no leaks!

I picked up a piece of extension pipe for him today so he'll work on getting the drain pipes and trap installed tomorrow.  This is all big - the first working water in the apartment!

Another huge block - Jim got a pressure gauge for the gas line and got it fit on the pipe outside.  He pumped it up with air from the valve outside the furnace to this point and everything is holding!  He'll continue checking and opening the other valves over the weekend - then he may be calling the gas company next week to start that process!

Jim finished up the flooring in the second bedroom except for the tiny strip against the other wall - looks amazing!  That also allowed him to start installing the baseboard heaters in this room.  One of the heaters came damaged so Jim took some pictures and will deal with that.

Now we are headed out to the kitchen!

It's been awhile since Jim has been able to use the nailer - sure makes things easier and quicker for him!

This is the last keel board that will go across the kitchen floor.  Jim had to notch this piece to go around the wall...

But once that was in place, we were able to chalk the line for the rest of the keel board.  Here he's going over our chalk line with marker...

End-of-the-day picture - the keel board is into the kitchen.  This board takes longer because both sides have to be nailed.

Progress is also measured with yet another load of cardboard ready to go to recycling in the morning!

High 71/Low 49 - gorgeous!
