Another day full of interruptions for Jim. Our insurance agent wanted to come out and see the progress and they had arranged this morning to meet. Bob was really impressed with everything and he even told Jim he liked all the colors in the apartment, which is hilarious to us because I always joke with Jim that it always comes down to colors!
Jim still got loads done - and some big steps. He had been testing the gas line but when he bumped up the pressure, he discovered a small leak in one of the threaded connections. Unfortunately, that meant he had to take off the drywall he put up at the top of this wall, take out the stud, and then had to undo all of the threaded connections until he got to the one that he found was leaking. But the good news about all that is that he pumped it back up and it's holding pressure
He decided to tackle more ugly work today - he has to do the stair risers on the bottom two runs. He was hoping to push that off since it's classified as a basement area, but no luck on that score. The first step was to take each tread off and cut the groove to fit the riser and then put all the treads back on. That took hours but that step is done now.
Jim spent a little time at the end of the day working on making some steel parts to change the end of the handrails on the staircase. But then he had to clean up and head to Lowe's for more glue and to pick up the ladder he ordered. This ladder will be for inside the apartment to reach the attic plus it can adjust to work over stairs, so that will come in handy.
