Today was the first time in over a week that I was able to get out to the carriage house to see the progress first hand! Of course, Jim takes time to explain and show me everything, so my visit ends up being a giant time suck for him. I tried to make up for it by cleaning up before I left!
But it was so fun to see everything. He continued working this morning in the furnace room - he sweated these plumbing parts together today for the drain area.
This is the relief valve all cut and fixed into place.
The amount of work on this system is really mind-boggling. A glimpse at just part of the system shows all the design issues and work that has been done so far. Jim is really trying to figure out how best to later incorporate the outdoor wood burning stove in the system so that really requires thinking ahead as to how both systems will work together.
Plus there are always issues that are hard to anticipate. Jim did all that beautiful work yesterday on the return plumbing from the pumps - only to realize that when he put the new pump on, the shut off valve will interfere with the lines. So he'll have to modify that and redo parts.
Late afternoon, Jim went back up into the kitchen to continue work on all the corners. The rooms are really looking great!
Working on the valley corners....
By the time Jim came home, he was basically finished in the kitchen except for a few loose ends. He turned the corner and started working in the hallway.
The temperatures were above freezing today but are supposed to get to barely above 0 overnight. So all any melted areas will be frozen up by tomorrow!
