2.1.2018

Another turn of the calendar to a new month.  Hard to believe how quickly time flies!

Jim worked in the furnace room a bit this morning, figuring out the next step which will be the return lines.  He was trying pieces out to see how he wants to run them...

Then he did some drywall work in the woodshop on the outside wall of the bathroom.  He's going to make an access panel so that he can reach the top of the breaker box in case he wants to run additional lines.

After lunch, Jim met me at the bottom of the driveway and drove me back up so that I could stay for the afternoon.  It's always so good to see things in person that I've only seen in pictures!

The afternoon project was to drywall behind the stairs.  Jim got things ready by putting planks up underneath the staircase.

Then he took all of the treads off...

And then the stringer...

Taking a laser measurement for drywall height...

This piece was complicated - had cut outs at the top and bottom, conduit hole as well as a switch box.  Jim got it cut and we marked it, then Jim carried it over...

Putting it into place...

Cutting out the box...

All done!

Then we got the next piece ready.  It's too tall for one full piece of drywall so Jim wanted the joint to be near the landing.

Putting it into place...

Fastening it down...

All done!  You can see that Jim left space underneath the landing for the drywall that needs to go underneath the landing.

Putting together the switch box again - this is a 4-way switch so it took awhile to rewire everything.

After we had lights again, time to reassemble the stairs!  First the stringer...

Then attaching the stair treads.  They are definitely quicker to take apart than put back together!

Working on the last tread.  I love the way the stairwell looks against the drywall - very clean.

Speaking of clean, check out the woodshop.  All of the drywall is gone!  Jim has all the box covers on and everything is in great shape.  We'll be ready for our final electrical inspection before too long!
