5.17.2017 - Water lines attached to well!

Jim put the pump controls on the wall today...

Then he worked on the shower - he had to make blocking and then attached the shower valve!

This is a picture of how Jim did more rough grading of the trench fill in we did yesterday.

Today we filled more of the trench in, working our way down towards the carriage house.

Jim shoveling dirt onto the sand...

...and the top!

After that, Jim got out the excavator again - this time to dig a trench for the lawn hydrant.

Digging the trench...

Crumbing out the trench...

Repositioning the excavator to dig carefully on the side of the well...

Always more hand digging...

Once Jim was happy with the trench, we moved inside and Jim got busy assembling the connectors.  He ordered all stainless steel parts to make sure everything stays in good shape underground.  He bought a T connection to allow two lines off the well - one for the carriage house and one to the lawn hydrant.

Tightening all the connections...

Back outside, Jim cut the old line off...

Undoing the connection from the well...

In order to put the new water line on, Jim needed to use his heat gun to soften the pipe so that he could push it on the barbed connector.  Of course, that's easier said than done since that requires electricity.  Jim decided to get the generator out - we haven't used it since we were welding on the deck a couple of years ago!  But naturally it was underneath the steel table and behind the new band saw.  Jim had to do all kinds of maneuvering to get it out.

But even after sitting all that time, it started up right away.  Jim brought it up to where we were working in the Bobcat.

Cutting the new pipe - being super careful to keep everything clean.

Heating up the pipe...

Pushing it on the connector...

...and tightening the clamp.  The carriage house line is connected to the well!

Next, Jim heated up the cut part of the line that will go to the lawn hydrant.

And pushed it on the barbed connector...

Jim cut the line where he wanted to put the lawn hydrant and taped up the end of the roll to make sure everything stays clean.

Then we brought up the lawn hydrant with its new connector and Jim heated up the water line.

Lawn hydrant is all connected!

Success!  Water line attached to both the carriage house and the lawn hydrant!

At the end of the day, Jim finished crumbing out the area where the lawn hydrant will go and brought up the concrete block that it will sit in.  We'll fill up this area with gravel to make sure the hydrant drains correctly.
