This is a spooky picture - not sure how it erased all the surrounding information! But it does what things looked like initially. The balloon plug has a chain with a ring on the end so that there's no way for it to fall into the pipes. Then there was no way for it to seal with the chain and ring sticking out.
So...Jim devised another way to do it and attached the chain to a piece of wood.
Now it's in the system and the wood prevents it from falling through.
The cleanout cap attached. Jim put Teflon tape around the threads and tested the system. It held the pressure but not quite as long as before - this threaded cap is notorious for leaking. So Jim wasn't 100% happy. Of course, redoing it involved taking everything apart and picking off Teflon tape! He used some joint compound around the cap and it's holding pressure fine.
However, Jim called the building inspector to see if he could come out. He was on the phone and was supposed to return the call but never did. So Jim will call in the morning again and hopefully he can get it inspected tomorrow and can move on!
Of course, Jim moved on anyway. He started working on building walls to encase the plumbing stack in the bathroom. This also allows Jim to have a wall where he can attach the water fixtures for the toilet.
Looks good!
Another view...
As luck would happen, when Jim worked on putting up the top track for the wall, one of the bracket hangers for the pipe was in that same location. So he had to take that apart and move it over.
Jim got a call that the rest of our Lowe's order was in. He needed a piece of wood so he went at the end of the day and picked everything up.
High 47/Low 35 - chilly! There's even a possibility of up to an 1" of snow in the wee hours! |
