12.5.2015 - Front Roof Sheathing Completed!

Jim went out this morning and worked on putting the rest of the end wall blocking up...all done!

The steel framework is all done for this part of the roof - we're ready for sheathing!

Jim first struck a line so he can make sure the first piece is level and in the right position.

Cutting the first piece - getting the angle perfect is critical for the first piece.  That is the measurement that we will use going forward for each piece.

I was in charge of measuring and marking again...

Putting the next piece of sheathing into position...

Fastening it into place.

Putting another piece up through the rafters.

This is the beginning of the last row of full size sheets of sheathing - and the last row Jim can put the pieces out through the inside of the building.

Once Jim got it stabilized from the inside, he went out the front wall and up the roof, then pulled it out onto the roof.

Then he could slide it into position.

The last piece for this course...

The last pieces had to be put out through the front wall and then Jim had to push them up the roof into position.

Cutting the last piece!

And getting it up on the roof...

...and into position.

Hurrah!  All of the sheathing is in place on the front of the building!  This is all very tough on Jim's body - by the end of the day his feet are sore from hanging onto toe boards and his wrists sore from putting all the screws in!

Looks fabulous from outside!

We were again blessed with a beautiful day to work on the sheathing.  You can see in the pictures that Jim even had to shed a layer with all his hard work.  Not me - we've pretty much lost all our sunshine inside the building so it's much chillier there!  You can almost set your watch by the temperature though - by 2:30, the sun is down far enough that the temperature drops and by 4:00, it's really dropped.

We're thrilled that the sheathing is up on the front - we just have the small back section to go!  Tomorrow's task will be putting down the underlayment.
