...and set up a whole wall of scaffolding!
Then we put up our first piece of sheathing on this side! As usual, Jim has to do all the heavy lifting putting it into place - I stand on the inside and clamp it down quickly so that it's secure.
Then he marks it and screws it into place. We had some issues with the screws that we had especially for this job - maybe 25% of the time the strip out the steel as it's boring through and Jim has to redo it in another spot. So that became frustrating fairly quickly.
After we had a couple of pieces up, it was time for the strapping.
Jim screwing on the strapping...
After the first two pieces where Jim put all the screws in, on the next pieces he put about 2/3 of them in. Enough to hold everything securely in place but allowed us to keep working together on getting the sheathing in place. Jim can go back and put in the rest of the screws later.
Our first row of sheathing on this side is in place!
Cutting the strapping to size for the last piece...
Then it was time to build up higher scaffolding - which was another semi-frustrating experience. If you're a faithful reader, you'll remember that the new scaffolding we bought isn't quite compatible with the older scaffolding - even though it's supposed to be. So we spent a lot of time switching out parts and trying to make things fit and work together.
Assembling the scaffolding...
Time to start on the second row. Our ladder isn't quite tall enough to reach the outside so we started on the next piece first. Here Jim was making sure everything was square.
After the first piece, Jim decided that he needed to use some temporary ledger boards to help hold the sheathing up into place. When you're this high up in the air and trying to balance a sheet of plywood just on another sheet of plywood - it's not the best situation to do by yourself.
Time to bring up more plywood...
The ledger boards were a great idea and really helped with getting the second piece into place. It really looks different from inside now - we're starting to miss our view though!
Screwing down the sheathing...
At the end of the day, taking a few minutes to catch his breath before clean up time! Another great day!
