Jim started the morning making some more flashing that we will use when we continue putting up more sheathing.  It's SO nice to have a nice place to work now - the inside is really starting to feel like a shop!

Jim also took the side extensions down from the scaffolding.  When we were putting up some of the sheathing, Jim only put about 2/3 of the screws in - so he finished up the majority of those except for at the bottom - he's still hoping his rep comes through with some different ones.

Then it was time to put up some house wrap - and this will be permanent now!  We used up some Tyvek that we had left over first - so I made sure the edges were all straight and then we went up on the deck.  Jim positioned it 6" below the top of the sheathing - that way he can eventually overlap the top piece.  Then he stapled it down.

Continuing across the top...

Then he went below and started attaching it.  Again - we will do the bottom section soon.

After that, I cut strips from the Lowe's house wrap that we have been reusing for multiple purposes.  This time, Jim stapled the strip where the sheathing meets the deck on the inside edge and then folded it down over the top - just to help keep water from getting behind the other house wrap.

Our first house wrap project done for the moment!

Then we decided to go back to working on the membrane.  We finished off the side...

...and then moved around to the back.  This is tedious work - there is a lot of cleaning and prep work for each piece and each piece has to be cut exactly to fit - including cuts for all these steps.  Then the product is extremely sticky so you only have one chance to get it right.

Working along the back wall...

We got a  big chunk of this done - and the hard part with all the steps too.  Plus Jim got a good portion of the top of the dimple board sealed down with strips of membrane too to help keep mortar from falling behind when we brick.  Hopefully tomorrow we can finish the membrane work in the back.

  1. That looks like a lot of hard work. Showed my husband what you guys are doing and I hope it inspires him to take up a tool or two and get into action. Our house needs a lot of re-modelling and I do not want to pay anyone else to do it cause I know my husband is very capable.
