Jim started working on the cantilever window this morning.  This is a tough one to take apart at this point but Jim always has a good plan.  First, he took off the jamb extension...

Then he had to take off all the window hardware and take out the window itself...

Jim made a piece of plywood with hand holds in it so when he took out the window, he was able to hold the plywood and put it on the outside of the window.  Then I held it in place while he put a long screw going from the strips into the plywood.

Then he covered up the holes so no creatures would find their way in!

The window all covered - now Jim can totally finish the window and then put it back in completed.

These cantilever windows have seen some sun so Jim lightly sanded the wood first...

Then stained it...

He also put the last coat of polyurethane on the top window sash of the double-hung window in the bedroom...

We checked out the painting on the garage doors and the man door - they all look beautiful!

Then Jim went back up on the stairwell roof - he did another inspection of the shingle cap on the peak.  He's happy with it so that means it's done and the roof jacks and scaffolding can come down!  So he's starting to take things apart...

Scaffolding pieces coming down...

Taking apart the planks on the roof jacks...

Once the main tower was down, Jim brought out the extension ladder to reach the end roof jack...

 Working on the other side...

Doing a little cleaning!  These roof jacks have been up for a long time!

Last roof jack off!

WOW!  The dormer and all the copper flashing really pop now and the stairwell entrance looks fabulous!

Of course, no resting on his laurels.  Time to build up the scaffolding in the back for the last bit of work to be done besides some painting.

However, Jim ran into the same issue with trying to get the roof jack off because it was too tight with the hip shingles.  He worked a long, frustrating time trying to get it off but he finally persevered.

Last roof jack off on this side!

High 81/Low 53 - beautiful!
