7.10.2019

Jim joked that he had to get reacquainted with his tools today - it's so hard for him to take even a little time off let alone take a day!

The first project today was to get the banquette table frame mounted.  He had to first drill a pilot hole for the mounting bar - thankfully right into our blocking behind the wall.

Putting the mounting bar on...

All in place...

Next he brought up the steel frame...

He attached the frame to the mounting bar and then put the leg assembly on...

Making sure everything is level...

Then he had to figure out placement to attach the leg assembly to the floor.  I would be terrified to drill into our beautiful floors but Jim takes his time and has no fears!

Screwing everything together...

Steel part of the frame is all done!

Next he brought up the wood frame - the Corian will attach to this piece.

There are 22 screws to attach the wood frame to the steel frame - this is one solid table structure!

Laying down on the job...

All done - I told Jim that it looks like a piece of art!  Plus, this table won't move so there will be no worries when it's all completed.  There will be some cosmetic work to come on the legs but that won't be until we do the seats to make sure everything matches and works together.

Jim had ordered a new carbon filter for the water softener system and it came in over the weekend so time to change it.

Thankfully, Jim put in all these shut-off valves so he could isolate this part of the system to change it out.

Pulling out the old one....Jim was pleasantly surprised at how it looked after being in there for 6 months.

Scrubbing out the housing...

All spiffy now...

Putting in the new filter...

Then putting it back into the system...

Then it was back to work on the pole barn soffit, using the Bobcat as his work platform!

Since I followed Jim back from Philadelphia after picking up the car, I hadn't gotten a chance to really ride in it so at the end of the day we went on a little drive.  It's really amazing - the interior is kind of overwhelming with so much technology - including a heads-up display!  Jim already has his phone all connected so he's able to access all his music and all the Apple functions.  I even got to take it for a spin - very fun!
