At the lumberyard, Jim bought some 8 quarter pine that he's going to use to make our first "real" inside door as well as enough wood to finish the window frames.
We also stopped at an apple orchard and bought some apples for making applesauce - and even got a sample of apple cider donut! We stopped at Cracker Barrel for lunch on the way home (thanks, Mom, for the gift card!) - a fun, successful road trip!
Once we got home, Jim did a little work on the gravel along the driveway and then decided to move some logs before the rain came. He put the forks on the Bobcat and lifted up one of the big trunk pieces...
Then he was able to start cutting it...
He obviously had to be very careful when cutting so that the log didn't slip and roll onto him. So he cut very close and then used the Bobcat to lift up the other section until it broke.
Then he got both logs on the forks...
Cutting the other big trunk...
He then scooted the log over that was in the driveway and took the first two logs up the hill for now.
Then he came back and loaded up the next two...
Jim wants to clean up our log storage spot so that he can make a gravel turnaround in this area. He wanted to take a first scoop of logs on the forks to see how it would go - he plans on taking them to the edge of the property in the woods for now.
Meanwhile, I took the rest of the cut-up branches and stacked them so our area is looking really good - not too much left!
It started raining so outside work came to an end. But now that no trees are blocking the upper driveway, Jim was able to pull the 4Runner up and unload his wood into the shop...
