11.4.2017

There was a pretty heavy frost on the pumpkin overnight - between that and the time change tomorrow morning, I guess we have to accept that winter will be on its way!

This is a picture of the inside of the closet in the second bedroom where Jim worked yesterday after I left.  We're to the point with drywall for the most part that we can go back to the beginning and start filling in pieces that we waited on to see if we would have scraps.

Jim did a little stairwell work this morning...Jim is just going to put some temporary insulation over the area where the teardrop window and gable will go.  The rest will be a next year project!

Jim also got the door jamb fit into the wood shop and made a rigid foam piece to fit.  This isn't permanently attached until he gets drywall in this area but it will help keep the cold air out!

Jim spent quite awhile on the phone this morning trying to find somewhere that would turn his brake drums.  With no luck.  Since newer cars have disc brakes, no one does this anymore.  Jim used to just take them to NAPA and wait for them to turn them - no more.  So that was discouraging.

So...Jim decided to take the drums off the newer 4Runner and put them on the older one.  That way he could drive the newer one for awhile and see if it was the drums that was causing the issue he was feeling or something else.  However, when he took everything apart, he found out that the rear axle was leaking - he had a giant mess to clean up.  Once he got everything cleaned, he swapped drums.  The plan is to hopefully get both cars inspected now - he'd like to continue parking the newer 4Runner over the winter and drive the older one.  But at least if both were inspected, we have options.

Obviously, this project took much longer than expected!

We wanted to get the rest of the outside lights up.  Jim finally found dimmable LED outdoor lights which we wanted - these will basically be just subtle lights to light up the woods.

All wired up and bulbs in place...

This light took a bit longer to wire because the power comes to this light and then is pigtailed to the other light, so Jim had to splice wires together.

Both lights in place!

Jim had cut a few more pieces of rigid foam to make the bottom baffles in the auto bay so he wanted to get them installed.

Putting up the baffles...

Three cavities done...

Next, Jim got the 10' piece of drywall that we had brought over to the corner of the wood shop fit and started fastening.

Then we brought over another piece.  Once we got it over to the corner, Jim manipulates it in place.

Jim had to do some work before this next piece could be fastened - he had to undo the receptacle and notch the top of the drywall to fit around the truss piece.
