11.11.2017

Thank  you to all the veterans today and every day!  Foremost in my thoughts are Jim (Air Force), my Dad (Air Force), and Jim's Dad (Merchant Marines).

Jim and I were nervous about how the carriage house would hold the temperature overnight since the lows were in the single digits with high winds on top of it.  But both utility areas were above 40 degrees, so we were thrilled.  Jim moved the big heater from the wood shop down into the metal shop because that's where he spent the majority of his day.

When he went to the Drywall Center yesterday, he picked up a piece of steel out of their "boneyard."  He was able to use it to make the last remaining support to go from the rafter to the ceiling joist.

You can see he got the steel installed, more wire strung and more fiberglass insulation in place.

More fiberglass on the ceiling...

I did more errands this morning - picked up wire and parts at Lowe's as well as bought more mini-blinds for some of the windows in the apartment to help keep the cold at bay.

Once I got to the property, I got to see Jim in action...here he's putting in some fiberglass...

Stringing wire...

Then fitting and attaching the upper baffles...

Then putting fiberglass on top...

End of working in the auto bay - you can see wire is dropped for more lights and there is lots of insulation now!

Jim did spend some time doing more insulation work in the wood shop - he got the other hole cut out of the window header and both sides stuffed with insulation.

In addition, you can see he started stuffing the small area between studs and was able to do below the window also.

He put the brace piece on the knee braces today also - they aren't fastened yet but they fit so tight they are good for now - and I love the way they look!  They'll be even better painted!

Jim is sure glad to be home at the end of these days.  He just runs the heater every once in awhile to get the chill off so working all day in the cold takes its toll.
