This was another one of those different days for Jim. It started out with an early trip to Angel. A man from Albany had contacted him yesterday about buying some scaffolding parts he had listed on Craigslist. The guy wanted to come early this morning - so Jim left without eating breakfast, figuring he'd take care of business and come back home. Jim had gotten everything loaded in the back of the 4Runner and planned to be at the bottom of the driveway for the transaction. All of that went well. But the guy was a contractor and they got talking - eventually they went up to look at the carriage house. The guy was just blown away that Jim had done this by himself as well as the quality of all the work. He couldn't believe all the steel work as well as commented on how nice the brick and shingles looked. When he went into the apartment, he told Jim that he worked with professional drywallers and he had never seen drywall so tight before; he said - it's ready for paint! Meanwhile, I was getting concerned that Jim had been gone so long (apparently I've read too many Craigslist horror stories). I texted and called him with no answer and was just getting dressed to go to Angel when he called. He had left his phone in the car when they were touring. So all was well. It's nice for Jim to get some positive feedback from someone in the business like that.
A very exciting note - Jim ordered our furnace last night! It should arrive in a couple of weeks - that's a giant step to come!
It was a possibility that we would get our drywall delivered this afternoon, so Jim spent time this morning rearranging and organizing in anticipation of that. However, his rep called later and said that it would be delivered Monday morning.
Jim continued working on the garage door seals - he got the one side put on...
He had to make a small spacer for the other side so he got that attached and then put the seal on.
This door is all set now and sealed off for winter! We'll have painting to do next year but now the winter weather will stay outside where it belongs!
Onto the next garage door, Jim had to make another spacer. I love that he can just go upstairs and use all his tools.
Jim was definitely making some glitter today with the planer!
Using his template to get the seal in the right spot...
This side is all done now! Just one more side left but the sun was quickly going down so we'll tackle that another day.
Back in the apartment, Jim had to put his electrician's hat on for a bit. We were going to work in the living room and he needed to turn the power off and take apart a receptacle in there. So he wanted to get the hallway receptacles live so that we could plug in the tools and light. It's nice because now Jim is putting the final receptacles in these areas - most of them have to be tamper proof now by code. He got 3 receptacles in and the living room one taken apart.
Then it was time for the next piece of drywall.
Moving it in place...
Cutting out the box...
Putting the fasteners in...
