6.7.2017

I had to start the day with a trip to the dermatologist - it was a scheduled appointment but I have also developed a bad skin rash over the last 6 weeks or so.  She diagnosed it as an allergic reaction - to something.  We're thinking it might be the insulation.  Poor Jim - in Ohio, I was horribly allergic to poison ivy and could hardly walk outside in the summer without it ending up with a visit to the doctor.  Now this!  I'll take better precautions and hopefully it goes away!

Meanwhile, Jim was back working on plumbing.  You can see he got the connection to the lawn hydrant all connected.

And we have water outside!  We left it run for awhile to clear out the well a bit.  Soon we'll have to call about water quality testing - it's required that we test for bacteria plus we'll want to know if we'll need a water treatment system.

Jim also put the track up for the overhang.  Unfortunately, he had left a needed drawing at home so he didn't continue working on this.

Back to siding, we put the fascia board back up on the side and fastened it down.

Next challenge was to figure out some flashing for the end of the eave.  Jim tried it with aluminum and decided to make the final out of copper.

The final piece...

Looks good!

Jim still wasn't quite satisfied - he wanted to make sure that no water could come down from the eave and get behind any siding.  So he made one little piece of Z-flashing.

End-of-the-day shot...finally past the eave.  All of this takes some time to remember all the tricks of installing the siding in these areas from last year!

Using his template, Jim figured out pieces for going up the side and got the first couple rows primed.
