6.5.2017

Jim worked on dismantling the other side of the plumbing manifold.  He ordered a new part that he wants to put in - union between some of the connections to help tighten things down easier.

Then he took a trip to the Drywall Center - he picked up some steel, more baffles and some rigid foam board.

Then it was addressing lots of little details today.  Jim strapped the vent stack down to the blocking.

He also came up with a great way to vent the bathroom exhaust fan.  He had bought a special coupler with a gasket inside to connect the duct pipe to the fan.  However, the output from the fan didn't fit well enough so he made a little collar that fit perfectly on the fan.  Then he was able to put the coupler on and tighten it down.

Jim had already figured out the placement for the vent pipe to go through the ceiling so he got his hole saw out and headed up into the attic to start cutting the hole.  You can see he just broke through...

Jim made the hole the perfect size for the pipe - there is a bell coupler on one end which sits perfectly on the plywood to make the pipe stable without any needed blocking.

The pipe is through...

Jim started putting up the baffles in the bathroom area...

Baffles all done!

While he was doing that, I started stuffing the 2" studs with insulation.

Next area to put baffles in was the back of the laundry room.  He had to leave some of this open because he has to drill holes in the rafters for venting purposes.

Jim fastened rigid foam board on the sides and bottom of the bathroom vent area.  It's all ready for ceiling insulation and then Jim can build the wall in this area.
