Happy Groundhog Day!  This is always a special day in our house since it was my dad's birthday and my mom grew up in Punxsutawney!  The groundhog did not see his shadow today so that means an early spring!

Jim headed out to take advantage of the sunshine today - he got the rest of the steel blocking done above the door frame.  Then he got the next piece of sheathing in place.

Getting ready to cut the door opening...

It's all cut out!

Cutting the next piece of sheathing...

Jim first got the sheathing up on the landing...

Then he went around to get up on the scaffolding and put the piece of sheathing into place.

The back corner of the stairwell is all sheathed!

Unfortunately, all that lovely sunshine that made it feel fairly nice today is doing a number on our ground.  We are now squishing through mud with every step - not so much fun.

After the sheathing is done, we decided to put house wrap on this corner.

Putting up the next section...

Once it's all stapled in place, Jim puts Tyvek tape on all the seams.

Wrapping the house wrap around the side...

Poor Jim really has to contort himself to finish the house wrap - plus this picture doesn't show that this plank is high off the ground over a big hole!

Then it was back to sheathing around the door frame...

Putting up the strapping...

Jim had to make one more mounting block to go next to the door frame...

Putting the mounting block in place...

Then we were able to put up another piece of sheathing.

Then Jim cut out the door opening...

Looking good!  You can see that Jim had to put up a plank from one scaffolding tower to the other so that he could reach the top of the sheathing.

Putting the little piece in the middle...

Strapping is next...

and...ta da!  This is our last piece of strapping in the carriage house!!

A couple end-of-the-day pictures...
