Another bitter cold day...-11 when I woke up this morning.  Too cold for man or beast!

But not for Jim!  In the afternoon, he decided to brave the elements.  One of his big missions was to see if there was something he could do about keeping water out of the lower shop.  Unfortunately, we are due for ice, snow and then rain tomorrow - up to an inch of rain!  Snow would be so much better - rain just makes such a mess.  Plus the concrete is so frozen that when all that rain falls to the shop floor below, it's going to freeze.

So Jim made sort of a water slide to hopefully siphon water away from the stairwell opening and hopefully divert it outside.  Fingers crossed that it helps!

Then Jim went back to doing some inside bathroom wall work. He attached the front wall upper track to the deck.

Then stood the studs in place - it looks like a room - so exciting!  Besides the top tracks, none of the studs are fastened but doing all the set up and planning work is key.  You can see that Jim had to avoid all the trusses and make everything compatible.

Jim tasked me with looking into bathroom fixtures - we need two toilets, a urinal and a shower stall.  We always use Kohler products so that was the first step.  But who knew there were so many decisions on toilets?  Do you want 1 or 2 piece?  What shape bowl?  Comfort height or regular?  And then how many gallons per flush?  And what kind of flushing mechanism - aqua piston, class five single flush, or dual flush?

In a nutshell, this typifies every decision that Jim has to make on building.  There is no builder that picks out all the basics and you just have to decide on color.  Every decision has so many layers that all have to work together.
