2.1.2016

Today's temps warmed up even more, although again there wasn't too much sun.  However, it was enough to start melting some of our polar ice caps.  Good until all that run off has created a giant mud pit everywhere!

Jim went out and got busy working on the rest of the landing details - he finished putting all the screws in and got the block installed.

After that, time for more scaffolding.  This time built another tower attached to the one on the planks so that Jim can reach the rest of the wall.

Then we put up the next piece of sheathing.  Jim had put an old piece of OSB down on the landing so that he can use it to help get the sheathing out.  Once he got it up on the landing, he set it up on top of the wall again.

He then was able to bring it down and set it into place.

Working on the fasteners...

There are going to be some steel pieces that Jim has to fabricate for connections over the door.  He made the first one this afternoon.

Putting it into place.  He needed this piece so that he can fasten the next piece of sheathing.

After that, we decided to switch gears and work on the back wall.  First job is strapping.

Then trying to get the sheathing outside...

Setting the piece into place...

Once that piece was fastened down, Jim had to build up more scaffolding.  It's pretty treacherous building at this location - there is no land mass close!  But he always manages to find a way...

Before we could go any further, Jim had to make the top pieces - the channel and track that go on top of the wall.   It was getting dark at this point, so I went home while he continued to work.  He got the track made, put in place and all fastened down.  He also got the next piece of strapping on so tomorrow we will be ready to install the last piece of sheathing on this side!
