Today it was time to start on the steel roof for the air conditioner cage. First step, cutting drip edge...
Starting to install...
Marking lines for panels...
Jim wanted it symmetrical but with the maximum number of standing seams...
Marking cutting lines for first piece...
Using the new shear to cut the panel - it worked great!
Next, he needed to mark all the locations for the hemming, since he has to make all those himself this time...
Making better lines for all his hemming...
Out to the pole barn to use the brake - this is heavier gauge still so it takes some work to get it bent right...
Using brute force...
But - ta da - looks great!
Again, he has to make all the cuts so that he'll be able to make the top and bottom hems as well...
Hemming...
Trying it out...
Fit perfectly, so now he can seam the edges...
At the end, he'll do a heavier seam, but for now, a light seam all the way up the side...
I had to go in at this point, but Jim got the clips on and the next piece up - it was much easier after the end piece. Looks so good!
Jim got a new tapping tool that he was showing me...
Today's a Holy Day, so we are off to church!
