10.24.2023

I had an appointment at the ophthalmologist this morning, and then headed into Saratoga to do some errands and grocery shopping.

Jim worked on the computer this morning, figuring out the complex angles for the end of the purlins to connect with the hip rafter.  After cutting the angles on both the purlin and the rafter, he brought it out to try...

Perfection - I love how all these pieces fit together exactly like a puzzle...

Marking next cuts...

He got pockets cut on the hip rafter...

Measuring to make sure he carried over the lines to cut the pocket on the opposite side hip rafter in the right place...

Carving pockets...

Bringing up the next purlin - this one has five different cuts that all have to intersect perfectly!

Fastening it in place...

More measuring and marking...

Bottom purlin done now too!  These are so long that Jim has to make multiple pieces, staggering the joints...

High 60.4/Low 33.3
